Sound familiar?
You know your data. You just don’t know which test it needs.
You’ve run the descriptives. You know your hypothesis cold. But somewhere before “here’s my test,” the certainty disappears.
“Is my data normal enough for a t-test?”
Asked at 1 a.m. Answered three different ways, in your own head.
“I picked a test. I can’t explain why.”
It feels right. Writing that into a methodology section is a different problem.
“Every source says something different.”
Not because you haven’t looked. Because you’ve looked too much.
The fix
Five plain questions about your data. One test, with the reasoning already written for you.
See it work
Your variables in. The right test out.
Name what you measured, answer one plain question, and the exact test comes back with the APA line you can paste into your results chapter.

What you'll find here
Right now, we’re fixing statistics.
Statistics is chapter one, not the whole book, but it’s the chapter every dissertation gets graded on, so that’s where PsychSimplified starts.

Hi, I’m Stephen Christie.
Not a faceless edtech company. I’m an Assistant Professor of Psychology at St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Ahmedabad, PhD researcher in psychology, and the person behind PsychSimplified. I am passionate about teaching, research, and making psychology more accessible. Everything on this site exists because I watched real students need it.

Questions you’re probably thinking.
Can't I just ask ChatGPT which test to use?
You can, but StatTest Selector is built specifically for psychology dissertations. It knows your exact design constraints, checks your normality assumptions, gives you the APA template, the G*Power path, and a supervisor-ready justification. ChatGPT gives you a generic answer. This gives you a defensible one.
Is the free tier actually useful or just a teaser?
Genuinely useful. Every free analysis is complete: the test recommendation, the full explanation, the APA write-up template, SPSS/jamovi steps, and the G*Power guide. You get 3 full analyses free. Pro doesn't unlock hidden features. It simply removes the limit, which matters once you're iterating on your design or helping coursemates.
What if I'm on JASP, not SPSS or jamovi?
JASP and jamovi share an almost identical interface and menu structure, so the jamovi steps work for JASP with minimal adaptation. Both are free, and we note this inside the app.
I'm an undergraduate. Is this suitable for me?
Absolutely. The tool is designed for UG dissertation projects as much as postgrad ones. The explanations avoid unnecessary jargon, and the free tier covers everything a standard UG project needs.
Will I get charged again automatically?
Never. There's nothing to cancel because there's no subscription. Pro is a prepaid pass: ₹99 buys 3 months. When the time runs out you simply drop back to the free tier. We don't store any payment method, so we couldn't auto-charge you even if we wanted to.
